Requirements for Sales Promo Registration
A. You are expected to fill the sales promotion application form attached herewith and submit for assessment of the application. The fee payable for the promotion would be determined after the assessment and communicated to you. You would then be required to remit the stated amount in Bank Draft, payable to Consumer Protection Council, Abuja.
B. You are also required to attach the following to the application:
- Certificate of Incorporation/Registration
- Letter of approval from or any other regulatory body under which you operate as related to your promotion and or operation
such as Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC)
- A copy of the advertorials to be placed in both electronic & print media
- Samples of questions for intended participants
- Detailed proforma of the gift items including the quantity of each item and total costs.
- Letter of undertaking to run a free and fair promotion
- List and addresses of your redemption centers if any, to enable the Council program same into its field monitoring exercise.
- Samples of fliers and posters meant for the promotion
C. Please note that the sell-in-time of a promotion should not exceed one year. Where it exceeds this period, it should be re-submitted for Council’s approval.
D. A provisional approval, (upon satisfactory assessment of your documents) will be issued to enable you implement the program as scheduled.
E. The gift items meant for the promotion have to be verified by the Council. The redemption centres for gifts to be given must be provided as the Council will pay unannounced visits to verify assertions made by your organizations. In addition where there are specific Draws intended, you are required to send to the Council the details of the Draw, at least two weeks to the scheduled date to enable the Council accommodate the supervision of the Draw in its schedule of operation.
F. On conclusion of the promotion, you are expected to send a comprehensive list of all the winners (which should include their names, phone numbers and addresses) to Consumer Protection Council, as a verification exercise will be undertaken.
NB: Please note that the essence of registering and monitoring any promotion is to enable the Council verify and ensure that the promotions are legitimate, decent, honest and truthful; conducted equitably, promptly and efficiently; that consumers are dealt with fairly and honorably; and that the promotion is not designed to abuse consumers’ trust or exploit their lack of knowledge or experience.

Please note:
1. Application must be submitted at least 3 months before commencement of the Promotion.
2. An application not satisfactorily completed may be rejected
3. The applicant shall give notice of any changes in respect of the particulars stated in the above application to the Director-General forthwith.
4. The making of a false entry in this form is a criminal offence punishable under S. 19 of the Consumer Protection Council Act, 1992.
